New traffic scheme going to NAIA3

MIAA implements new traffic scheme going to NAIA Terminal 3

MANILA, Dec. 21 (PNA) -- Airport authorities on Monday announced the implementation of a new traffic scheme around Circulo del Mundo to facilitate better traffic for passengers going to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

This came after the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) kicked off the trial period of the said traffic scheme last week as it was observed to have cut travel time.

“Traffic woes need to be further addressed especially during the rush of passengers to the airport this holiday season,” MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado said.

“Thanks to the priority lane, the one-hour travel time from Sales Road to Terminal 3 during heavy traffic has been roughly cut into half,” he added.

Under the new scheme, the innermost lane of the said circular road has been made into a priority lane for airport passengers from Sales Road going to Andrews Avenue.

Motorists coming from Baclaran would have to proceed further to Andrews Avenue and take the U-turn slot in front of Remington Hotel on their way towards the mall instead of turning left along the road going to New Port Mall.

They were also advised to stay on the left-most lane of Andrews Avenue coming from Sales Road to be able use the priority lane.

Meanwhile, the MIAA said that road barricades and appropriate signage have been installed in the area to guide motorists.

This new traffic plan will be in place indefinitely or until traffic improves following the construction of the NAIA Expressway. (PNA)
